Introduction To React & Redux

React JS has quickly grown into the dominant frontend library for companies ranging from small startups to large international organizations. From AirBnB (https://www.airbnb.com), to ESPN (http://www.espn.com), to The New York Times (https://www.nytimes.com), React has firmly established itself as a mainstream technology that is here to stay. As such, there is no better time to start learning React than right now while it is still relatively new. In this workshop, we will go through the basics of a React project structure, using Webpack to build the app, organizing project files, and deploying to a staging environment. This is a great introduction to the basics of React and a starting point for learning the library.

What We Will Build
During the workshop, create a simple React project from scratch and deploy it to a staging environment. We will use Turbo 360 (https://www.turbo360.co) for hosting so make sure to have an account beforehand – it is free.

Who
This workshop is ideal for beginners with a basic understanding of Javascript. Participants are welcome to follow along on their own machines but complete beginners (never coded before) would be better off watching and observing. If you are looking for online tutorials, this is a good place to begin: https://www.turbo360.co/tutorials

Attendance
Please arrive on time or a few minutes early. Anyone who arrives after 7:00pm will not be allowed in and will be turned away – this is building policy.

Required
Please bring a laptop (preferably Mac) and make sure you have a text-editor installed: Sublime or Atom should be fine.
